01 Purpose, Objectives & Operations
Purpose
- To inspire people to (re)connect with God through His Word
- To engage and motivate youths especially to embrace the Bible as an integral part of their lives
- To speak to our world with one voice, proclaiming Jesus Christ Lord and Saviour, leading the lost to Him
How It Happens
- Through THE HOLY SPIRIT leading us in service for Jesus Christ THE LORD OF THE CHURCH

- Opening Service: 5.00pm Jan. 1st by Church which opens Reading Marathon, 6.00pm Day 1 to 4.00pm Day 5
- Closing Thanksgiving Celebration: 4.00pm, Jan. 5th.
The initiating pastor within the church, denomination/fellowship, area/region, mobilizing readers, reading teams from his or various churches/assemblies:
- Organize a pastors steering committee (if multiple churches)
- Organize a workers steering committee
- Workers steering committee organize leaders for various sub-Committees
- Mobilize prayer teams
- Churches register appointing their team leader/leaders
- Reading assignments made – see reading blocks-schedule listing
- Team leader commences preparing readers to read with excellence at required reading speed (150 words per minute)

Village Broadcasting (in Communities where this is workable)
Placing Speakers at a church (or other Strategic locations), to air the Marathon publicly in other villages which will require:-
- Internet Connection / WiFi to pickup the live feed

Budget
It is desirable if this Ministry is led by a Team of Volunteers.
- Some type of central office (e.g. at one of the Participating Churches) could be used to coordinate the Program.
- This will require expenditures for stationery, telephone and other related items.
- Where necessary a Stipend or Allowance may be appropriate for the person who may have to spend lots of time dedicated to coordinating all the activities involved.
